About us

The Swedish Repository Library and Centre for Interlibrary Loans

Sveriges depåbibliotek och lånecentral is a state-funded library.

Today (2022) we have about 452 000 registered volumes in Libris. The essential characteristic of the collection is its breadth: both large and small, old and new, scientific and lightweight are included in our book collection.

The Swedish Repository Library and Centre for Interlibrary Loans is a partner of the National Library of Sweden and a national competency centre concerning supplementary media supply and collection management for all types of libraries.

A national repository library

The Swedish Repository Library have been tasked with collecting Swedish literature, making it available for interlibrary loans. We receive weeded books from different libraries throughout Sweden, catalogue it in the Swedish national library catalogue Libris and lend it to libraries, thus making older literature accessible for loans again.

Interlibrary loans (ILL)

We can provide interlibrary loans from two different collections: Umeå City Library and The Swedish Repository Library. For further information, tips and advice, please read our ILL guide (Fjärrlåneguiden) on our website.

Acquisition requests, international loans

Being a centre for interlibrary loans we acquire both Swedish and foreign literature on demand, for interlibrary lending. Furthermore, we are able to request loans as well as copies (articles) from libraries abroad as a service to public libraries in Sweden.

Reference services for libraries

We welcome questions from all public libraries and school libraries with requests concerning literature or other subjects, which require more in-depth investigations.

Professional development and conferences

We organize further training courses, conferences and meetings covering resource sharing, reference and collection management.
